Mama Moo — Audition Call
Prayas Theatre is thrilled to announce our next production — Mama Moo, a heartwarmingly absurd, hilarious yet deeply meaningful new work by Auckland-based playwright Nimish Tanna, directed by much-acclaimed NZ theatre veteran Margaret-Mary Hollins.
About the Play
A widowed butcher falls for an animal rights activist and must navigate the presence of his dead wife’s ghost, his own dark side and a talking cow spirit to win the activist’s love — all while fighting to save a calf’s life in court.
Blending humour, satire, live music, physical theatre and emotional storytelling, Mama Moo explores ideas of compassion and coexistence. This marks an exciting new chapter for Prayas after 20 years — a production that pushes the boundaries of South Asian theatre in Aotearoa.
