A founding member of Prayas, Amit Ohdedar is a veteran director of many plays, seven of which have been for Prayas. A deep pride for his Indian heritage and a desire to share it with his new home is what inspired him and his co-founders to present well-known Indian plays in English. Thirteen years later, Prayas has grown to be the only South Asian Community based Theatre Company of its kind performing on a professional platform.
In recent years he handed over the mantle of direction to other emerging talents within the company. After a gap of five years, in 2018 he was back in directing role for Dara.
By day Amit is a Contracts Manager for a refrigeration and air conditioning company, but his real love is to engineer the theatre elements that take an audience on a journey. He, incidentally, also knows to engineer a lamb curry to die for!
