Fundamentals of Puppeteering & Object Manipulation:
Participants will explore the principles of animation used in puppetry through exercises with puppets, objects and materials. Working with a visible puppeteer, participants will play with the relationship between performer, object, and audience.

About Ella Becroft:
Ella has led workshops in devised theatre and puppetry throughout New Zealand and internationally. She is currently the Associate Director of Red Leap Theatre and has been a Red Leap company member since 2007, performing in Beyond the Blue, The Arrival, Sea, Dust Pilgrim and Owls Do Cry. Ella has worked as a puppeteer and puppet designer for Red Leap, Nightsong Productions and Auckland Theatre Company. She puppeteered Kune in the television series Kune’s Kitchen.

About the workshops:
This is a series of intermediate level workshops, being hosted by Prayas this year to up-skill community artists. To be eligible, you will need to have some basic performing experience – ideally you would have 2-3 productions under your belt (community theatre is 100% okay!)
