Welcome to improv!
A chance to learn and practice the joy of improvised comedy! This workshop explores the fundamental techniques and skills of improvised performance, including making offers and saying yes! An opportunity to cover the basics and actively participate through exercises and games.

About Alice Canton:
Alice is an award-winning performer and theatre-artist, authoring under the creative moniker White_mess. She began her career as an improviser, MC and corporate entertainer with The Court Jesters in 2003. Since then she has worked throughout New Zealand and overseas, performing with a number of improv companies including Playshop, The Improvisers, and SNORT! Alice is interested in social practice, using theatre as a vehicle to explore participation, political engagement, and community. She has had a very dynamic career over the last 15 years which has expanded across arts, education and advocacy. Alice has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from University of Canterbury and a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Acting) from Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School.

About the workshops:
This is a series of intermediate level workshops, being hosted by Prayas this year to up-skill community artists. To be eligible, you will need to have some basic performing experience – ideally you would have 2-3 productions under your belt (community theatre is 100% okay!)
