Whanui: The Auckland Arts Festival
Directed by Ahi Karunaharan. Assisted by Sananda Chatterjee and Nona Shedde
A fortune teller, a flower seller, a runaway bride and a dozen villagers breaking into traditional dance and singing folk songs formed the core of a great Indian carnival. Prayas delved into their childhood memories of the sights, smells and sounds of small-town India and brought it to life in the heart of Auckland’s South-Asian capital – Sandringham Road. With a cast of versatile young actors, Samaroh seamlessly took over the Sandringham Road Reserve as part of the Auckland Arts Festival.
